Powerful and dramatically compelling, this viscerally expressive play eloquently lays out the imaginary meeting of two of the most important people of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In reality, they encountered one another only once, briefly, on March 26, 1964. Although differing in philosophies, in this production they share a mutual respect while fiercely debating their varying approaches to the same social problems and civil rights dilemma.
This one-act play will be the first offering for the Fleetwood-Jourdain Summertime Season 2021. Five virtual broadcasts of this fully designed production will be offered on Juneteenth; Saturday, June 19 at 8 p.m.
Details on how to use 2020 Premium Gold membership cards or where to purchase tickets, and the full broadcast schedule, will be on the updated FJT website on June 7. For questions, please email fjtheatre@cityofevanston.org.
Fully vaccinated 2020 Premium Gold Members will be invited to attend one of two in-person viewings of the play with very limited reserved seating. Fleetwood- Jourdain Theatre hopes to stage live performances in the not-too-distant future.
