Mayor Daniel Biss thanked the officers for their service to the community. Noting the crowd of about 100 of the officers’ friends, family, and colleagues, he said it was the largest he had seen in the Civic Center in his few weeks as mayor, and the number of people in attendance underscored the significance of the event.

Sergeants Tyson and Wilson each thanked their colleagues and the community. Sgt. Wilson said despite the national anti-police sentiment, she felt the community of Evanston supports the police.

  1. I had other choice words, but my comment was edited by Evanston roundtable. Not very ethical in my book….
