Evanstonians young and old managed to enjoy themselves in spite of the cancellation of this year’s 4th of July parade and fireworks. The lakefront was crowded in the midday heat, but lake breezes, ice cream and good company managed to keep things lively among the picnickers crowding the many parks. RoundTable photographer Evan Girard captured a variety of July 4th festivities. As daylight waned, unofficial fireworks were spotted over the lake.
