The Evanston City Council is seeking public input as it considers changes to the City Code impacting the use of leaf blowers.
The City Council is considering the changes as the City works to meet the goals set out in its Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP), which calls for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
To gain a better understanding of stakeholder perspectives and concerns regarding leaf blowers, the City has created specific surveys to reach residents, commercial and institutional property managers and landscape/lawn care service providers and their employees. Surveys can be found in English and Spanish at cityofevanston.org/landscaping. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, Sept. 3.
Additionally, the City will host two public forums for stakeholders to provide feedback on leaf blower policies and next steps. The forums will take place in Room D at the Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St., as follows:
Forum for residents and property managers
6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26
Forum for landscape/lawn care service providers
6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27
