With the Delta variant and breakthrough infections raging, many senior citizens are concerned about their ability to remain active in our communities. Everyone can stay masked in stores; in restaurants, on the other hand, masks come off at a certain point, making some seniors feel vulnerable.
North Shore Village Network, f/k/a Wise-Up – Aging With Attitude, is an organization for older adults which provides mutual support and connections as we age, so that we can remain active, vital and contributing members of our society. One of our most popular activities is Thursday night dinners, during which members get together for dinner at various area restaurants. However, because of the Delta variant, some members have expressed concern about meeting indoors.
All dining establishments in New York City, New Orleans, San Francisco and soon Los Angeles require all staff AND customers to be vaccinated. We believe this policy makes both safety and business sense.
We urge North Shore restaurants to require staff and customer vaccinations so that everyone can feel safe.
Senior citizens spend money in restaurants – we are good customers. With some sensible business and safety procedures in place, we can continue to be good restaurant patrons.
We ask any restaurant that adopts these policies to please contact our organization so we can share this information with our members.
