The Salvation Army Evanston Corps will host a “Helping Our Community” distribution this weekend. Hundreds of free school supplies and personal care items will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1403 Sherman Ave.
All of the personal care items and school supplies were donated by members of the community. More than 700 personal care items, including shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste, will be available, as well as about 400 school supplies, including pens, pencils and notebooks. The Salvation Army canteen will serve hamburgers and hot dogs.
“We would especially like to thank our community members for coming on board and helping us help our neighbors in need with some essential items in this difficult season,” said Lt. Macy Gantner, Corps Officer for Congregational Life at The Salvation Army Evanston Corps.
“We are excited to share these items and let our community know we are here for them, and look forward to continuing to find new ways to serve,” said Capt. Christina Champlin, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army Evanston Corps.
