On Thursday, Sept. 30, Evanston Pride Inc. is pleased to celebrate Evanston’s Latinx community during Hispanic Heritage Month with a party from 5 to 8 p.m. in Fountain Square downtown.
The party will include a 7 p.m. concert by the all-female Mariachi Sirenas. Before the concert, guests will be able to enjoy a DJ, a mercado featuring local Latinx and LGBTQIA+ merchants and makers, a flamenco dance demonstration and interactive experience, and more.
Margaritas and beers will be available for purchase at the party, but guests are encouraged to get food from one of the restaurants in downtown Evanston.
“I am overjoyed to be able to bring together our communities with this celebration,” Evanston Pride Board member Patty Finley, a first-generation Mexican American, said in a news release. “It gives us the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic heritage as well as kick off LGBT History Month.”
Evanston Pride is a nonprofit organization focused on organizing and supporting the full spectrum of local LGBTQIA+ community members.
The fiesta is open to all Evanstonians. Guests can follow this link for updates.
