The Illinois eviction moratorium expired Sunday, Oct. 3. There are options for people facing eviction and landlords trying to recover the rent owed to them. Cook County is offering Emergency Rental Assistance to landlords and tenants in suburban Cook County to pay rent and/or utility bills.
The Cook County Emergency Rental Assistance (CCERA) program application portal opened on Monday, October 4, for suburban Cook County residents. Open Communities, a not-for-profit organization that works to ensure fair housing practices, is one of the partners working with Cook County on this program.
