The City of Evanston is seeking input from the community as part of its Accessibility is Freedom: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan Update.

In partnership with Altura Solutions, the city aims to create a blueprint for Evanston to enhance accessibility throughout its parks, municipal facilities, sidewalks and intersections, and programs and services well into the next decade. The process seeks to ensure everyone in the community can fully navigate Evanston’s public spaces and activities.

Get involved

Public Workshop, November 18
The city will host its first public workshop on the ADA Transition Plan Update on Thursday, November 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Levy Senior Center, Bobby’s Room, 300 Dodge Ave. Community members are invited to drop in at any time to learn more about the project and help identify accessibility gaps, their most-used facilities and parks, and how to make the city more accessible for all. American Sign Language interpretation will be available at the workshop.

Virtual Workshop and Survey, November 18 through December 2
A virtual workshop will also be available on the project website, evanstonaccessibility.com, beginning November 18. Visitors can learn more and take a survey at their leisure any time between November 18 and December 2.
