The Evanston Township High School District 202 Board of Education held a special meeting on December 1 and unanimously approved a search firm to hire a new superintendent in 2022. Board members met with a total of three firms in November and have selected Alma Advisory Group to lead the search process at ETHS. The anticipated cost for the project is $25,000.
In September, ETHS Superintendent Eric Witherspoon announced that he will retire at the end of the 2021-22 school year. His successor is expected to be announced in late February or early March. “We are looking forward to thoughtful feedback from all stakeholder groups in this process,” said ETHS District 202 Board president Pat Savage- Williams. “We have been extremely fortunate to have Dr. Witherspoon as a leader in our district and in our community, and the ETHS Board is committed to a careful and transparent plan in making the critical decision to choose the next leader for the district.”
The Alma team will work with the ETHS Board to engage in authentic community engagement to understand the community’s priorities and aspirations for ETHS moving forward. Over the next several months, the Board will work to create a clear profile for the next superintendent, outlining the key responsibilities and competencies required of the role. This information will help the Board decide the appropriate next steps to identify and select the next superintendent of District 202.
