District 65 kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year opens on Monday, December 6. Children must be five years old on or before September 1 to register for kindergarten and are assigned to an attendance area school based on their residency address.
The registration process must be completed online through the district’s student registration portal. Upon completion, parents/guardians can arrange a time to visit the Joseph E. Hill Education Center to verify their residency and provide the required documentation.
To help ease the transition to kindergarten, District 65’s Student Registration department has streamlined the registration process on the District website, allowing registration to be simple for families to navigate. Parents/guardians can easily access essential registration documents online while registering their child. Families can register their incoming kindergarten student by visiting www.district65.net/registration and navigating to the “Kindergarten Registration” tab.
“Kindergarten is an exciting time for families, and we want student registration to be simple and stress-free,” said Sarita Smith, Manager of Student Assignments for District 65. “We hope the information shared at our upcoming Kindergarten Information Sessions will ensure a smooth transition and a great beginning to your child’s primary education in District 65!”
In addition to registering students for kindergarten, the registration team will provide prospective parents/guardians with two virtual Kindergarten Information Sessions, available in English and Spanish, that share an overview of the enrollment process. The virtual presentation will also review the opportunity to participate in the lottery to attend either of the district’s two magnet schools serving kindergarten through eighth-grade students (Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary & Fine Arts School) and selective enrollment programs (African Centered Curriculum and Two-Way Immersion Dual Language Program) in District 65. The selective enrollment lottery opens from December 6 through March 18, 2022.
