This year’s City of Evanston Kwanzaa Celebration will be held at the Robert Crown Community Center and will include local artists, a family art and crafts area, a West African Community Drum Circle led by Evanston’s Tony Garrett, a contemporary West African Dance performance and a beautiful storytelling presentation of “Seven Spools of Thread: A Kwanzaa Story” by Angela Shelf Medearis, adapted and narrated by nationally renowned storyteller Stephanie Davenport. Davenport is a member of ASE, The Chicago Association of Black Storytellers.
The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26.

This is a City of Evanston Community Sharing Event, co-sponsored by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. – Omega Pi Zeta.
There will also be a community gathering for the Fountain Square Kwanzaa Kinara Lighting on Sunday, December 26 at noon.
