Thanks to this year’s Mayor’s Holiday Food, Book And Toy Drive, 365 families across Evanston received red and black bags filled with nonperishable items, new toys and books for all ages.

Evanstonians who participated in the Holiday Drive dropped off donations between Nov. 5 and Dec. 13. Drop-off sites included the Evanston Made Holiday Market, Evanston Public Library and several grocery stores and banks.

“It was a wonderful event that demonstrated the care of the Evanston Community,” wrote Kenneth Cherry, the Recreation Manager at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, in a message to the RoundTable. The bags were distributed outside the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center.

Cherry added that Evanstonians pulled together to ensure all community members had an enjoyable holiday season.
