This week, the RoundTable is launching a new video series that will put a spotlight on people and organizations in our community worth getting to know.

“People You Should Know” is a joint project of the RoundTable, the Evanston Chamber of Commerce and Byline Bank. Each episode will feature a discussion or interview led by someone in our community with a special interest in the topic.
The kickoff episode features the Brady Scholars Program in Ethics and Civic Life at Northwestern University. The program is designed for Northwestern students who are looking for a deeper understanding of ethical, social and political questions, who want to broaden their understanding of society by spending time in another country and who are eager to learn about and contribute to their local civic community.
Our guest interviewer is former mayor Steve Hagerty – a passionate student of civics and discourse as a method for coming to consensus on issues. Joining Steve are Kathleen Arbuckle, program administrator for the Brady program, and students Eirene Fithian and Alpesh Chapagai.
The Brady Scholars program is for students who recognize that our cities, our nation and the world face vexing problems and who want to make a start on addressing those problems before their undergraduate days are over. The program is committed to the idea that an understanding of ethics and of the world are prerequisites for improving it. It seeks to make students more aware of the complexity of moral issues, of the need to learn from other parts of the world and of the value of collaborative efforts to improve the city in which we live.
