In the latest installment of our People You Should Know video series, Pastor Michael Nabors interviews Robin Rue Simmons and Chuck Lewis.
As an Evanston City Council member, Robin Rue Simmons introduced the first government-funded reparations program in the United States. She has since created FirstRepair.org to “share best practices, create tools, and develop a viable model to advance local reparations policies.” FirstRepair is a place to start with a long road ahead, moving the needle towards expansive repair necessary in the United States. Chuck Lewis is a philanthropist in Evanston and he and his family foundation have partnered up with Rue Simmons to support her efforts.
The series is produced through a partnership between the RoundTable, Evanston Chamber of Commerce and Byline Bank.
