Nickie Lee and her mother, Raven Ashford, took a cab to the Evanston Police Department so they could pick up four KN95 respirator masks being distributed by the city. “We have to protect ourselves and the ones around us,” said Lee. “COVID is real. No joke. It’s killing people.” About 110 masks were given away at the station, one of four sites on Wednesday that offered free masks from the federal government. (Photo by Richard Cahan)

We picked up 2 free KN95 masks at the Levy Center last week but I have returned them. They are so small, neither of us could wear them — they must have been made for children. The man I returned them to said his was also too small to wear. What a waste!
