Runners circle the top of the Northwestern lakefill. They belong to F3, which stands for fitness, fellowship and faith. The group is non-religious, according to local organizer Matt Barton. “Everybody just has to believe in something bigger than yourself.” About 15 to 20 Evanston men belong. They all believe in exercise; they run once a week and take part in three morning bootcamps. They also do community work—like unloading pallets for non-profits. Events are free, held outdoors rain or shine, and open to all men. (Photo by Richard Cahan)

I started with this group seeking better control of my physical health during the pandemic. It’s turned into much more than that. F3 Evanston is a group of incredible men that care deeply about their families and community. We’re always looking for more men to join us in our workouts, fellowship, and volunteer work.
