John Hewko has deep ties to Ukraine and helped to author its constitution. He serves as general secretary and CEO of Rotary International, which has clubs in both Russia and Ukraine.

For the latest episode of People You Should Know, John was interviewed by Annelise Riles, the executive director of the Buffett Institute of Global Affairs at Northwestern University. He talks about the growth of Rotary in both countries, the evolution of Ukraine as an independent nation in the post-Soviet period, and why he was not surprised by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
