Yesterday, today, and tomorrow we are forever grateful for the women in our lives. From our first breath to our first steps, from our highest highs to our lowest lows, it is impossible to imagine these and other milestones without the love and influence of the women who nurtured us along the way. This month, FJT is re-broadcasting several video projects we have produced that celebrate the women in our lives, and we are producing a NEW video project to be aired later this month.

I Will Never Give Up, is a virtual play reading conceived, written, performed, and directed by members of the older adult drama club, The PrimeTime Players, in collaboration with members of the North Shore Village Network, and was originally broadcast last year. The story chronicles the life journey of a determined woman named Aretha who always strived to be the very best for herself, her family, and her community despite the enormous challenges she had to overcome. View here.

The Women In Our Lives is a short video documentary that aired during Women’s History Month last year. Community members were given the opportunity to share their love, admiration, and appreciation for the incredible women in their lives by submitting a video testimonial. This year, we are producing a new documentary, ”The Women In Our Lives: Forever Grateful.” Details for submissions are below. View here.

Black Women of American History was this year’s Black History 24 / 7 / 365 video series introducing several episodes about Black Women who made significant historic contributions to the building of America. If you missed it, you now have an opportunity to see for yourself what people have been raving about, “Acclaimed actor Jazzma Pryor narrates beautifully the stories of incredible Black women who were determined to make a difference”.

Episode 1: Clara Brown

Episode 2: Mary Eliza Mahoney

Episode 3: Pauli Murray

Episode 4: Professor Joyce Hughes

Play a part in the NEW documentary “The Women In Our Lives: Forever Grateful”

Here is the Call to Action: Video record yourself sharing a personal short story, an original self-composed song or poem about a woman who has made an incredible impact on your life. Do not exceed 60 seconds of recording time. Be sure to have good sound quality and lighting. Submit your video in .mp4 or .mov format to fjtheatre@cityofevanston.org. Use your smart phone! That’s it. We will take these videos and create a sensational documentary to broadcast on Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre’s YouTube Channel on Sunday, March 27.

If you have a high-resolution photo of this person and you have permission to use it, include it as an attachment in your submission. It is not required to be included in the documentary but is highly encouraged.

Submit your videos and photos to fjtheatre@cityofevanston.org with the subject “The Women in Our Lives” In the body of the email, include your FULL NAME, CONTACT PHONE NUMBER, and CONFIRMED EMAIL ADDRESS. FJT will not share your information.
