Jane H. Durfee, née Hickok, of Evanston, formerly of Levittown, Pennsylvania, and Collins Center, N.Y., recently passed away at the age of 100.
Jane attended secretarial/business school, and was married in 1949. She was a homemaker, cook and gardener. Jane was an accomplished seamstress and sewed quilts for the Evanston Levy Center gift shop. She golfed, played tennis and took flying lessons.
A member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Evanston, she was beloved by all who knew her and cherished by her children and grandchildren. Jane lived her last 18 years in Evanston with her daughter and her family and traveled the world with her children.

Beloved wife of the late Frederick; daughter of Ruth Hamman Hickok and Homer Hickok; dear mother of Dr. Sharon (James) Durfee Amato and James F. (Marleen) Durfee; loving grandmother of Alex (Kelly Brooks), Victoria Jane, Christian and Nick Amato, Lauren (Sal) Corso and Lindsey Durfee; fond sister of the late Edith Terpstra.
A celebration of Jane’s amazing life will occur this spring/summer at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Evanston. Interment in Newark Cemetery, Newark, N.Y.
