KemperSports has announced Tom Grey is the new General Manager of Canal Shores Golf Course. In this role, Grey will oversee business and golf operations and lead the team in cultivating an exceptional guest experience at this community gem.
“Tom is a proven industry veteran who brings a variety of experience in the golf industry, including previous roles with KemperSports municipal golf facilities and the Chicago Park District,” said KemperSports Vice President of Operations Vince Juarez. “His ties to the local community, game of golf and industry knowledge make him an excellent fit for Canal Shores Golf Course.”
Grey joins Canal Shores and returns to KemperSports from his most recent role as Sales and Golf Operations Manager at The Marriott Lincolnshire Resort – Crane’s Landing Golf Club in Lincolnshire. He has held numerous roles across public and private golf facilities, including Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook and Ironhorse Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Grey also served as the personal caddie for the legendary Jack Nicklaus in 1993 for both PGA and Senior PGA Tour Events, including the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
In his prior experience with KemperSports, Grey served as the Director of Marketing and Outreach for the Chicago Park District and made an immediate impact on the local community. He coordinated player development programming and hosted numerous junior events, including The Tiger Woods Foundation Golf Clinic and a national youth golf program called “Hook a Kid on Golf,” and implemented programming for The First Tee – Greater Chicago.
Grey grew up in Winnetka and graduated from New Trier High School, where he played on the golf team for four years. Grey completed his undergraduate studies at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., where he received his bachelor’s degree in economics and business and played on the golf team all four years.
