When I feel turmoil deep within I try
To understand the source of my unease
Especially when I feel the need to cry,
To turn my pain to prayer on pleading knees.

Life takes us all to places of unrest
To dare us grow in ways we cannot see.
Where all that matters is we do our best
To let our hurtings teach us how to be.

We pray to know a gentle peace within
That permeates each breath and every day;
Our world as well, God’s peace, we pray again
That sanity and love will have their say.

My peace within needs more than just my prayer;
It craves a world where peace is everywhere.
