The Evanston Fourth of July Association has announced this year’s theme: Celebrating For 100 Years – The Evanston Fourth of July Association.
In 1921 a child was seriously injured while playing with fireworks. The neighborhood joined together to provide a safe and supervised July Fourth celebration the following year, thus starting the Evanston Fourth of July Association.
The non-profit, all-volunteer organization raises funds for the event. No tax dollars are used to pay for any of the activities, including the parade, concert and fireworks. The City of Evanston works closely with the association to provide services related to public safety, health, sanitation, recreation and public works.
Early Bird Parade Entry is now open
Early Bird Registration started April 20 and ends on April 30. There is a $25 discount for early registration. Regular registration begins on May 1. The fee is used to help offset costs.
Visit www.evanston4th.org to register and get all the information needed to have a great Fourth of July.
