The City of Evanston’s Equity and Empowerment Commission is seeking community input on racial equity issues in Evanston through its first-ever community survey.
All community members are encouraged to take the survey to share their lived experiences and provide feedback on issues of racial equity, the city’s role in addressing these inequalities, housing affordability, and other issues.
The survey is available at cityofevanston.org/equitysurvey (English) and cityofevanston.org/equitysurvey_esp (Spanish). Data gathered through the survey will help guide the city’s efforts to address community priorities and concerns and will provide the Commission with a baseline to measure the city’s progress. The Commission will share survey results with the public through a community report.
In conducting the survey, the Commission acknowledges that the survey itself is not a mechanism for change, but rather a tool to drive accountability. The Commission plans to conduct the survey every two years to measure progress, gauge priorities and elevate community concerns.
For questions about the survey, contact Equity and Empowerment Commission co-chairs Karla Thomas at Karla.thomas79@gmail.com or LaShandra Rayfield at LSRayfield@gmail.com.
