On Tuesday, May 10, at approximately 9:10 p.m. Evanston Police responded to the 1800 block of Madison Street for a report of a person shot.
Upon arrival officers discovered that a 20-year-old female resident of Evanston had suffered injuries to her face. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated. It appeared she had been struck in the face by bullet fragments. She remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The initial investigation revealed the victim was in a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Madison Street. The vehicle had two additional occupants, an 18-year-old female resident of Evanston and a 15-year-old female resident of Evanston. They noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area and attempted to leave. It was at this time the suspicious vehicle stopped, two occupants exited the vehicle, shots were then fired in their direction, and the vehicle then fled the area.
No suspects are in custody at this time. Information about the offenders and their vehicle is pending further investigation. It is unknown if the victim and the two other occupants were the intended target. The investigation indicates the location of this shooting was likely not random.

1801 Madison street….the people who live there gotta go. One of many many incidents in this area…..This is a violence free area. We want all comers to our neighborhood if they can be violence free.
