Are you ready for a life changing experience this summer? Hands of Peace is currently looking for host families to provide a safe “home away from home” for our Israeli, Palestinian, and out-of-state American participants from July 6-25 as they learn to become agents of change.
Hands of Peace is a nonprofit organization that brings together youth (ages 15-18) for a three-week summer experience that marks the start of a greater journey. As we celebrate “20 Years Planting Peace,” around 40 youth will gather in Glenview to attend facilitated dialogue sessions about the conflict, exchange stories from their personal narratives, and learn to use various artistic mediums to promote community action and social change.
Host families play a vital role in the Hands of Peace journey, differentiating Hands of Peace from other peacebuilding programs. Host families are responsible for driving participants to and from Glenview Community Church in the mornings (9 a.m. drop-off) and evenings (5:30 p.m. pick-up), providing breakfast and most dinners, and giving participants a private space to unwind after a long day. Host families also gain access to exclusive events, including Culture Night where participants cook culturally significant dishes and perform skits.
We ask that host families be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be willing to take part in a background check. Consider becoming a host family to develop meaningful connections that can last a lifetime as you experience firsthand how Hands of Peace empowers youth!
