Evanston is looking greener than ever! Last week’s Glorious Garden Walk, hosted by the Garden Club of Evanston, put six local gardens on display, but no fear if you missed it. The Evanston Environmental Association is also hosting a garden walk this Sunday. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets!

Speaking of green, Sweetgreen celebrated its grand opening Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at Fountain Square, 1601 Sherman Ave., the restaurant offers healthy bowls and salads.

This year’s Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate was a moment to move but also, the organizers said, to act on race relations in Evanston and the nation.

The event has been held every year since 2000, a year after former Northwestern University basketball coach Ricky Byrdsong was shot and killed while jogging near his Skokie home with two of his children.
