At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, Evanston firefighters responded to 3224 Central St. following a report of flames coming from the roof of a public building in Bent Park.
Upon the arrival of first-responding companies, flames were reported to be visible from the roof of the single-story commercial structure. First-arriving crews conducted a well-coordinated interior attack and quickly extinguished the fire, minimizing damage to the structure. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Neighboring fire departments were called to assist with fire ground operations and respond to emergency calls in Evanston. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
