A 23-year-old Evanston man was injured in a shooting outside the McDonald’s on Dempster Street just after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to a press release from the Evanston Police Department published Friday.
Police described the shooter as a Black man wearing a white shirt, jeans and a ski mask over his face. He allegedly shot into a silver Honda in the McDonald’s parking lot, hitting the 23-year-old multiple times in his upper body, according to EPD.
Evanston paramedics were able to treat the man before taking him to the hospital, but he was released shortly after with injuries that police said were not life threatening.
EPD said its preliminary investigation indicates the shooter targeted the man intentionally and it was not a random attack. The shooter was not in custody, police said, and has not yet been arrested, according to the press release.
