Downtown Evanston is hosting the second annual Fall Fest on Sunday, October 9 from 12 – 5 p.m. The street fest will take place in the heart of downtown at Fountain Square.
Downtown Evanston is expanding the event footprint on Sherman Avenue between Davis and Grove streets. There will be a mix of entertainment including live music by Georgia Rae Family Band, Daniel Jackson Band, and DJ Johnny Price, art activities for kids and adults, live t-shirt printing, and the Swing Set Drum Kit, an internationally traveled music activation created by local artist Dave Ford. Other kids activities include special guest Dinosaurs Wild featuring Winston the Baby T-Rex, a hoola hoop artist and Lucky Henna Designs.
New this year, there will be food vendors including 5411 Empanadas, Soul & Smoke, C&W Ice Cream Truck and Colectivo Coffee. Attendees can also enjoy craft beer and pretzels from Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. and hard cider from Right Bee Cider.
In addition to the activities, there will be a Maker’s Market featuring local artists. Candles, jewelry, upcycled clothing, cookies and gourmet nuts, games and toys are just some of the products that will be available. The Maker’s Market will be located on the east side of Sherman Avenue.
The Fall Fest is a fundraiser for Downtown Evanston, a 501c6 organization that provides marketing, events, maintenance and other services to the business district. Attendees can help support Downtown Evanston by purchasing a custom-printed t-shirt at the event by Anchorfish Printing, a local print and embroidery shop. Attendees can also purchase a Downtown Evanston cup to enjoy a Smylie Brothers beer. The first beer and cup cost $10; subsequent beers cost $5.
In addition to funds raised through t-shirt and cup sales, Downtown Evanston is grateful for event support from Hyatt House Chicago/Evanston, City Volkswagen of Evanston, Gearhead Outfitters, and Complete Chiropractic & Rehab.
