Evanston Township High School employees Shari Iverson (World Languages Department), Melissa “Missy” Munsey-Johnson (Career and Technical Education Department), and Ingrid Strasburger (World Languages Department) received the 2022-23 Guillebeaux-Arceneaux Spirit Award at Evanston Township High School District 202.
Iverson was commended for her “can-do” attitude and for providing countless opportunities for students to thrive in the language lab. Munsey-Johnson was recognized for her dedication to the ETHS daycare program and her energy level that helps make it the “happiest place” at ETHS. Described as a “fierce advocate for multilingual learners,” Strasburger was praised for her care and guidance for staff and students and her willingness to help others without hesitation.
Award recipients were chosen by the Spirit Award Selection Committee from a larger group of nominations from fellow employees. This award program is an ETHS tradition, where staff celebrate the work and dedicated spirit of support staff in the high school. The award recognizes the spirit of dedication to all ETHS students, loyalty and support for colleagues and commitment to family and community, values expressed and reflected by the lives of former ETHS employees Ernestine Guillebeaux and Sharon Arceneaux.
The ETHS Support Systems Association funds and runs the annual program as a way to honor support staff at the high school. Visit the ETHS website to view past recipients of this award.
