Bundled Blessings Diaper Pantry is hosting their annual benefit, Bottoms Up, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Double Clutch Brewing Company, 2121 Ashland Ave. Evanston Jazz musician Christopher Neal Plus One will perform during the event.
Bundled Blessings provides more than 28,000 supplemental diapers each month to over 570 families through 18 local service agencies in Evanston and the surrounding communities.
“Basics are not basics, they are essential,” according to the National Diaper Bank Network.
One in three families with young children experience diaper need in our country. Federal aid programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants and Children) will not fund the purchase of disposable diapers by families in need. As a result, many children are unable to attend childcare facilities without an adequate supply of diapers, limiting parents’ ability to attend work or school. Cloth diapers are not an option for most families, because it is illegal to wash diapers in public laundry facilities.
Bundled Blessings is a 100% volunteer, nonprofit organization. The pantry has distributed more than 1.5 million diapers since its inception in 2013.
Double Clutch Brewing Company was recently named “Best Small Brewery” in the U.S. by the Great American Beer Festival.
