Women of Note, a non-profit women’s chorus, will bring their lively December 2022 concert “Treasures of the Holidays” to residents of four Evanston senior communities this year.
They’ll sing for the residents at :
- Three Crowns Retirement Community at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16.
- The Mather at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.
- Trulee Evanston at 2 p.m. on Monday Dec. 19.
- Westminster Place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The program highlights the many moods of the holidays. Selections range from jaunty tunes like “Patapan,” and the Hanukkah song “S’vivon,” to lullabies like the Spanish “A La Nanita Nana,” and many other well-loved songs and carols. And, thanks to Women of Note’s mid-concert Singalong, audience members get to participate too.
While singers volunteer their time for Women of Note, the chorus is led by well-known Chicago area professional musicians Kaitlin Foley, music director, and Cody Michael Bradley, accompanist. The chorus includes Evanston residents Cinda Axley, Kathy Oswald, Diane Rasmussen, Marianne Schapiro, Carolyn Sheridan and Nancy Slichenmyer
As a preview to the concerts listed above, Women of Note will also present a free, public performance of “Treasures of the Holidays” on Dec. 14 at 2:00 p.m., at the Mallinckrodt Community Center, in Wilmette. Light refreshments will follow that concert.
Founded in 1965, Women of Note began as a project of the Woman’s Club of Wilmette and has been an independent nonprofit organization since 1995. They have brought their fun, seasonal programs to residents of senior communities, memory care facilities, and a home for the vision-impaired throughout the North shore and parts of Chicago.
