The Evanston Township High School boys wrestlers soundly defeated three other schools in the Wildkits’ quad meet at the school’s Willie May Field House this weekend.
Evanston wrestlers competed in weight classes from 113 pounds to 285 pounds, sweeping Blue Island’s Eisenhower High School 72 to 3; Lake Villa’s Lakes Community High School 66 to 12, and Chicago’s Gary Comer College Prep 60 to 24.

“Our team is young and full of potential,” said Rudy Salinas, head varsity coach, who has been at Evanston for 20 years. He said having his team photographed was “a real treat” for him and the wrestlers.
“Normally we don’t get a lot of attention, but our sport is made for these kinds of photos,” Salinas said. “It’s nice to see the wrestlers feel valued. I think the sport can be glamorous. I’m glad that it was captured.”
