Jean Conway Jorjorian Stephens, 97, a resident of Evanston for 50 years, died peacefully with her family by her side on Jan. 2.

Jean was preceded in death by, and formerly beloved wife of, Armen D. Jorjorian and Thomas F. Stephens. She was the loving mother of Mark D. Jorjorian, who preceded her in death; Ann C. Jorjorian; Catherine C. Jorjorian; and Eve J. Ray. She was loving grandmother of Hannah S. and Rebekah S. Jorjorian; and Kelsey J. Ray. And loving mother-in-law of Susan J. Orum.
Jean was born June 27, 1925. She graduated from Marquette and Loyola University. She most recently worked at Rush Presbyterian Hospital, beginning in the Bowman Center geriatric rehabilitation and geriatric psychiatry units. She supervised both students and staff and later was an assistant director of the Department of Social Work for the medical center for Rush.
Jean was quite active in the church throughout most of her life, and was a caring, engaged citizen who searched for ways to improve others’ lives. She enjoyed gathering with friends and family and enjoyed connecting with people.
A service and celebration of her life is scheduled for friends and family at 10 a.m. April 22 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 939 Hinman Ave.
