Middle school pupils look over free books distributed by the Evanston Township High School literacy team. Eight titles were offered at Little Beans Café, 430 Asbury Ave. Each student could pick one book. “It is important to expose young people to a variety of authors,” said Philinda Coleman, ETHS literacy interventionist. “The majority of authors we have here are African Americans. We want all children to learn about all authors.” A similar popup event will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center. (Photo by Richard Cahan)
