From the Evanston Public Library
The Evanston Public Library’s Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., will be closed through Friday, Feb. 10, for emergency repairs.
The library building was closed on Wednesday following the collapse of a sewer line. Crews are working to assess the repairs needed, and cleanup work inside the library was already underway by Wednesday afternoon. Sidewalk and single-lane street closures are expected along Church Street through Friday.
Materials on hold at the Main Library will not be available until further notice. All in-person programming scheduled at the Main Library through Friday is canceled. Watch your email for updates if you were registered for one of our programs.
Evanston Public Library’s Robert Crown Branch inside the Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St., remains open with no interruptions to programs or services.
Patrons may still return materials to any EPL book drop, located at the Main Library, Robert Crown Branch, inside the Fleetwood Jourdain Center, and on Prairie Avenue near Central Street, and our downloadable collection is available to Evanston Public Library cardholders any time at epl.org.
