From the Evanston Police Department
On Jan. 23, at approximately 4 p.m. Evanston Police responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping. The 18-year-old woman who reported the incident stated that two subjects attempted to kidnap her while she was walking to work in the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue.
An Evanston Police Detective Bureau investigation revealed inconsistencies in the woman’s account, and she admitted the allegation was false, police said.
The woman, Tianna Young, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct for filing a false report, defined as “transmits or causes to be transmitted in any manner a false report to any public safety agency without the reasonable grounds necessary to believe that transmitting the report is necessary for the safety and welfare of the public.”
Young, a resident of the 1500 block of Pitner Avenue, was released from the police station after posting bond. Her initial court date is March 7 at the Skokie Courthouse.
