Amy Landolt performs acupuncture on Bruce King at a community acupuncture session at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center. “I am an aspiring activist,” said Landolt. “I use acupuncture to help communities that have been harmed and continue to be harmed.” The sessions, held twice a month, are open to everybody. Evanston residents pay $10 per month. “I love the company,” said King, a regular, as he talked to the seven others who had needles inserted – mostly in their ears. Community is a key part of these sessions. “Humans are social beings,” said Landolt, of the Northshore Acupuncture Center. “A huge part of healing is connecting with other people.” (Photo by Richard Cahan)
