Rabbi Rachel Weiss of the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation greets George Davis, director of the Baha’i House of Worship, during what antisemitic groups called a “national day of hate” targeting Jewish communities. “I came to show support,” said Davis. Weiss and JRC cantor Howard Friedland (background) spent the morning welcoming more than 100 members on the Jewish sabbath. “To actually be together is really powerful and really important,” said Weiss. “Part of our role in the community is to lead services,” she said. “What we are doing here, standing in the doorway, being able to hug people and greet people and say ‘Shabbat shalom’ and ‘I love you’ and ‘I’m so glad to see you,’ that’s leading ritual, too,” Weiss said.
