Major leaguers may be in spring training, but the house sale season is in full swing. John Meyers and Terah Arrington cart out a bar hutch from an estate sale on the 1000 block of Maple Avenue. “I come from a long line of inveterate shoppers,” said Arrington. “I didn’t know these sales existed until I met her,” said Myers. The couple goes to as many as 100 sales a year. Their strategy: shop on the last day when prices have been reduced and they can negotiate. They bought the hutch, listed at $300, for $100—plus a $5 gold mirror and $1 pillow. They couldn’t talk long. Off to a sale in Wilmette. (Photo by Richard Cahan)
