From the Evanston Fire Department:
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, the Evanston Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle that struck a light pole and then collided with the Meineke Car Care Center at 1975 Green Bay Road.

First-responding companies found a light pole down in the roadway and a car with partial intrusion into the south end of the Meineke Car Care Center upon their arrival. One patient and dog were found in the vehicle, with the driver found unconscious with a significant traumatic injury.
Firefighter-paramedics extracted the patient from the vehicle and immediately initiated advanced life support treatment, transporting the patient within 15 minutes to a local area hospital in critical condition.
The small dog also suffered a leg injury. Fire companies provided medical support for the animal until the City’s animal warden was able to facilitate transport to a local animal hospital.
The city’s structural engineers were called to the scene to assess the integrity of the building and the potential for collapse.
