Join Skylight Vintage, Etc. on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a grand opening at 1716 Sherman Ave. Skylight Vintage, Etc. is a pop-up shop with a mission—all proceeds from purchases will support The Skylight Foundation, a nonprofit which provides free and low-cost mental health counseling to those who cannot afford it.
Skylight Vintage, Etc. carries a range of vintage and unique finds including mid-century modern, kitchenware, books, trinkets, clothing, art pieces, shoes and funky relics! The shop receives donations from estate cleanout companies and other vintage vendors which allows the shop to sell the products at affordable prices. All shop staff are volunteers from the community including high school students.
Angelica Klow, executive director of The Skylight Foundation, started selling vintage goods in early 2020 to help raise money for the organization. Due to the strong interest and following, Angelica continued to grow the resale shop, first moving into a classroom at a church in Skokie and now moving to a storefront in downtown Evanston.
“The Skylight Foundation is thrilled to be opening up their store in downtown Evanston,” said Klow. “We already have had many residents peek through the windows and give us the thumbs up or tell us they can’t wait for us to open. The goal is for shoppers to find joy in finding something new for their home or a gift for a friend, and also knowing their purchase makes it possible for someone to get therapy. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be downtown and to share our mission with the community.”
“We are so excited to welcome Skylight Vintage, Etc. to downtown Evanston. Not only is a vintage shop a wonderful addition to the retail offerings downtown, but we believe shoppers will come out to support their mission to provide financial assistance to individuals that need mental health counseling,” said Laura Brown of Downtown Evanston.
Skylight Vintage, Etc. will be open Thursdays 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Fridays 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. You can also make a tax deductible contribution to The Skylight Foundation.
