Early voting for this spring’s election cycle opened Monday, March 20, at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., and the RoundTable has compiled responses to a standard questionnaire from all candidates running for seats on the Evanston City Council.

Most council seats are not up for election until 2025. Only the representatives for the Second and Ninth wards have elections in 2023; the elected council members for those wards resigned their positions in 2022 and the mayoral-appointed replacements now go before the voters.

Today, we are posting all of our profiles of the five candidates. Responses have been edited for clarity.

Below is a list of names of each person running for council, along with a link to their questionnaire responses. (One topic the RoundTable did not ask about on our questionnaire is Northwestern University’s proposed Ryan Field project; we have already surveyed all council members and candidates about that issue.)

Second Ward:

  1. Incumbent council member Krissie Harris, appointed by Mayor Daniel Biss in 2022
  2. Challenger Darlene Cannon
  3. Challenger Patricia Gregory

Ninth Ward:

  1. Incumbent Juan Geracaris, who was appointed in 2022
  2. Challenger Kathy Hayes
