On Ryan Field: Northwestern University is not proposing a new football stadium. It is proposing a new for-profit mega musical destination complex that could host unlimited 10,000-person events as well as up to 10 for-profit concerts for crowds of up to 35,000 in the warm weather months. As a by the way, it will also have seven football games a year there and maybe graduation ceremonies.
Alternative idea for Northwestern: Convert the park-like area along the lakefront on the campus into a Ravinia-like setting and host the concerts there. It is a much more attractive venue for that and will keep the noise and crowds better separated from residential areas in Evanston.

Love this idea! It puts a point on all the resources NU has, including prime lakefront property that would rival Ravinia as a music venue, and has the advantage of being accessible from north, south and west directions , taking the pressure off of Central Street. Did I say the lake would be a lovely venue?
This is a great idea. It will give the money and problems back to NU. The citizens of Evanston gain nothing and NU gets all the money they should have the problems.
Concerts on the lake would be a great idea, let’s have it!
