As part of the exhibit and to honor Yom HaShoah – Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day, which is marked across the country as a national holiday and day of remembrance – a screening of the film In the Shadow of Memory will be screened at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, April 20 in the Noyes Upstairs Gallery. The 52-minute documentary focuses on Jerry Zbiral, daughter of a survivor of the Nazi destruction of the Czech village of Lidice. Although she was born after the war and left the country as an infant, her mother’s stories had a profound effect on her life. It is a compelling story that addresses emotional issues that span generations. This award-winning film combines historic footage and contemporary interviews with survivors, a starting point for an ongoing personal exploration of the legacy of tragedy, relevant far beyond a WWII setting.
