Evanston Scholars, a nonprofit that helps Evanston youth access and graduate from college and launch careers, is hosting its annual POMP! Benefit at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Double Clutch Brewing Company, 2121 Ashland Ave.
POMP! was inspired by the pomp and circumstance of high school and college graduations. Each year Evanston Scholars celebrates the graduating Scholars as they embrace the rewards of their hard work and look forward to the exciting next steps towards meeting their goals. The event will showcase the ways the Evanston community’s support makes a direct impact in the lives of students and their families.
The event includes a buffet dinner and open bar and features a premium silent auction with items such as a Lake Michigan Cruise, two tickets to see Watch What’s Happening Live with Andy Cohen in New York City, a party for 10 from Bungalow Barbecue, sports tickets and a case of premium wine. Tickets cost $150 per person and reduced price tickets are available for Evanston Scholars mentors, alumni and parents.
Proceeds from POMP! provide programming and support services so that Evanston’s first-generation students, students of color and students from families with limited financial means have the resources to access and graduate from college and obtain strong jobs.
