High school students pose atop The Mather at a party to celebrate their school year. The students, all from Chicago, are part of Boys Hope Girls Hope. They’re among 24 youngsters who live in Evanston during the school year in three family-like homes run by the organization. Participants attend St. Athanasius School, Regina Dominican High School or Loyola Academy. The program pays their living expenses and school costs through high school and helps with scholarships and internships in college. This year, they have come to The Mather at 450 Davis St. twice a week to get support – academic and personal – from four tutors. “The kids bring us a lot of joy,” said tutor Barbara Hiller. “We get as much from them as we give.” On the roof (from left) are Isabel, house supervisor Jasmin White, Mia, Abby, Ariella and Cece.
