Through May 21, the Evanston Art Center will showcase DéCouvert: Her Diasporan Chronicles of Self Discovery, featuring artists Ojo Agi and Laju Sholola, curated by longtime art curator Fran Joy.
Agi and Sholola create an art experience through their life journeys as women of the African Diaspora who want to engage in high-level discourse about womanhood.
Chicago-based and woman-owned art collective, Golden Our Collective, will host a preview from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Evanston Art Center, 1717 Central St.
“This exhibit will reflect varied experiences of women of African descent living on the continent and throughout the Diaspora,” said Ogechi Harry, founder of Golden Our Collective. “Both artists are looking to display work exploring placemaking, courage, and self identity through feminine lens.”
