September is a time for new starts – getting back to school, reading new books and meeting new people. It is a great time for the Evanston Public Library to introduce 10 local children’s book authors with exciting new books to share in a fun and multi-faceted event open to all.

Author Sarah Aronson will host a panel featuring Lisa Jenn Bigelow, Betsy Bird, Carolyn Crimi, Celia C. Perez, J.S. Puller, Barb Rosenstock, Evelyn Sanchez-Toledo, Sara Shacter and Allan Woodrow. This event, co-sponsored by the Evanston Public Library, Booked and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), is part of SCBWI’s Read Local initiative that is dedicated to connecting teachers, librarians and booksellers with local published writers and illustrators throughout Illinois.

Families, teachers, librarians, kids and others are wecome. There will be trivia and prizes for children (recommended for those in grades 3 and up). Authors will answer questions about their books and the creation process and will autograph books on sale from Booked.

This multi-author event will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the Community Meeting Room at the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. A link to the event on the Evanston Public Library website at can be found at evanston.libnet.info/event/2993126.
